Professional Development and Leadership Foundation (PDAL Foundation), is a non-profit organization with an aim to provide knowledge and guidance to the professionals of the AEC and Real Estate industry, and to spread awareness about the industry. PDAL Foundation aims to achieve its objectives through activities related to education, training, skill development, career guidance, mentorship, business networking and awareness campaigns.

Professional Development and Leadership Foundation (PDAL), actively collaborates with industry professionals, organizations, educational institutions, and academic experts to bridge the gap between academia and industry. By facilitating meaningful events, partnerships, and learning opportunities, the Foundation creates value for students, professionals, employers, educators, and other stakeholders across the AEC and Real Estate ecosystem.

To promote continuous professional development and leadership excellence, PDAL Foundation strives to engage both the general public and domain experts, contributing to a more skilled, informed, and future-ready industry.

Founders and Directors

Professional Development and Leadership Foundation (PDAL Foundation) is started by Snehal Jagdale Surve and Milind Surve. Both are Architects and Urban Planners with education and experience from India and USA.

Board of Advisors

The board of advisors for PDAL Foundation consists of experienced professionals with various expertise in Architecture, Engineering, Construction & Real Estate and other supporting sectors.

Our Journey So Far

The formation of Professional Development And Leadership Foundation (PDAL Foundation) is just a milestone of the long journey that was started long ago and that will continue for years to come. What will remain consistent is a fervor to see the people of the AEC & Real Estate Industry flourish, find their own niche in the industry and help each other to bring in individual and collective success.

  • 2007

    Alternate Angle

    The journey of the thoughts started with the formation of Alternate Angle in 2007, which strived to bring in a different outlook in the Architecture profession. The projects and office setup have always been people and culture centric, with emphasis on learning, sharing and growing together.

  • 2017

    Alternate Angle Academy

    With the thought of bridging the gap between academia and profession, Alternate Angle Academy (AAA) was formed by the founders of PDAL as a knowledge enhancement platform for professionals of the Architecture and Construction industry. AAA has been organizing lecture series, site visits, workshops, seminars, electives in colleges and online courses, and has conducted multiple batches of the finishing school program, a short course for graduates to make them industry ready.

  • 2019

    Architects of World

    The work of mentoring students and spreading awareness about career choices was taken further through an online platform named Architects of World. Its intention was to spread awareness about the various career choices available to young Architects after graduation, and to help them find their own niche by making informed choices.

  • 2023

    WOArchitect

    The platform was renamed WOArchitect, maintaining the same intention of guiding young professionals while expanding its reach to fulfil all the professional needs of Architects across their career span, such as networking, jobs and finding growth paths.

  • 2026

    PDAL Foundation

    The journey continues with the formation of Professional Development and Leadership Foundation, expanding its wings to the entire AEC and Real Estate industry and making it more inclusive by taking the initiative from private efforts to a non-profit organization.

Various activities were conducted under the above banners actively for all these years.

  • Researching and publishing the entire list of career choices open to Architects and other professionals of the built environment after their core education.
  • Interviews of professionals in various career profiles.
  • Publication of well researched articles and blogs on various topics related to the profession.
  • Live online courses for practical knowledge by various professionals of the field.
  • Self-paced online courses.

Offline events such as

  • Awareness seminars in professional colleges, organizations and open lectures about career choices.
  • Site visits to actual construction sites.
  • Electives in colleges by working professionals, to bring industry knowledge to academics.
  • Topic based lectures in organizations and open avenues.
  • Organizing visits of young architects to professional offices for one-on-one dialogues with practicing professionals, providing a glimpse into the professional world.
  • Short term (4 months), practice-oriented courses with internship opportunities in professional offices for young architects.
  • WOArchitect 2025, a career conclave for awareness about various career choices, mentorship and jobs for young architects.
